Welcome to 2011!

22 Jan

I can’t believe it’s 2011 already!

2010 was a busy year at The Write Gyrl!  We had lots of new projects and clients, and added a couple new writers!

2011 is going to be a great year, too!  As owner and editor-in-chief here, I’m keeping tabs on the economy and definitely hoping it is on the upswing and freelance jobs keep coming.

If you’re a start-up, don’t forget we offer business branding and marketing services on a freelance basis!  So please put down that copy of Marketing for Dummies and shoot me an email!  We will help you reach your target market and brand your business, all without you needing to hire new people before you can afford it.

If you’re a blog and want a couple of posts here and there from seasoned veterans of political, economic, pop culture, fashion or shelter blogging, you’ve come to the right place!  Our writers have experience and creativity that will blow your readers away.

We can also do those pesky little tedious tasks you really just want to outsource to some competent professional instead of wasting your quality goof-off time doing it yourself!  Pay us to tackle the tedium for you!  That’s what we’re here for!

We’re ramping up for a fantastic 2011!  Can’t wait to help make yours great, too!

Best,

Sandra

Fresh Seafood, Cold Beer, Need I Say More?

14 Jan

My husband and I have lived in various places; such is the life of a US Navy officer.  We love to seek out local restaurants that have excellent food, a laid-back atmosphere and good beer on tap.  Of course, all of this must include great prices.  Cato’s Seafood Market at the corner of SR 231 and Cato Road looks like a complete dive from the outside, but inside is some of the best fresh seafood you will ever eat.  And the prices ain’t bad either. Others have been remembered for notoriety and scandal, these include Warren G Harding (the Teapot Dome scandal), Ulysses S Grant (Black Friday, Credit Mobilier and the Whiskey Ring) and, of course, Richard Nixon (Watergate).

Even Ronald Reagan, much beloved by the Republican party, was beset by the Iran-Contra Scandal, as well as having the national debt almost double under his presidency. Bill Clinton will most likely be remembered for the Lewinsky scandal, even though his presidency was a time of increased economic prosperity. What will the legacy be of outgoing President George W Bush?  Continue reading
